Streams & Brooks

Meandering streams that wind through your landscape, tying gardens, patios, and gathering spaces together with gentle current.

Drawn to your property line

A stream has to belong to the land it runs through.

A stream is the one feature that touches the whole yard, so it gets designed around what's already there — where you walk, where you sit, which trees stay, and how the ground already falls. Done right it looks like it was there before the house was.

We shape the bed for a real meander, set the drops where you'll hear them, and plant the banks so the edges soften in a season or two. The whole run recirculates from a hidden headwater, so it uses no more water than a pond does.

What moves the number

Length & meander
How far the water travels and how much it winds on the way.
Drops & stonework
Each drop is a small waterfall, hand-set and tuned by ear.
Site access
How far the machine travels, and what it has to work around.
Crossings & finishing
Bridges, stepping stones, lighting, and streamside planting.
In every build

In every stream we build

A stream is a long, shallow build — the liner, the grade, and the stone under the water are what keep it running clear.

  • Excavation and stream-bed shaping (meander + grade)
  • Hidden basin or BioFalls headwater
  • 45-mil EPDM liner and geotextile underlayment
  • Energy-efficient pump and flexible plumbing
  • Delivered boulders, cobble, gravel, and stone, hand-placed
  • Streamside marginal planting
  • Beneficial bacteria, startup, and walkthrough

What a stream costs

Typical installed cost · ME · NH · MA

$13k–$20kGetting started

Garden brooks

A short, gentle run threaded through a planting bed or along a patio edge. The constant sound of moving water, close enough to hear from a chair.

  • 10–15 ft run
  • Single headwater
  • Streamside planting

$20k–$32kMost of our builds

Woodland & meadow streams

A longer, naturalistic run with several drops, built to look like it has always crossed the property. This is where a stream stops being a feature and starts being landscape.

  • 20–30 ft run
  • Multiple drops
  • Naturalistic cobble

$32k+Estate scale

Property-scale streams

A living boundary of moving water and stone — or a long stream that empties into a full ecosystem pond, so you get the journey and the destination in one build.

  • 40 ft and up
  • Property-line runs
  • Or stream-fed pond

Every figure includes excavation, liner and underlayment, headwater filtration, pump, stone, plants, and startup — installed and running. Design and consultation are always free.
